MIHM 2025

January 2025 – February 2025

Innovation Management / Innovation Design – This course allows to work on modules of innovation design and management, exploring a variety of tools to channel concept design and creativity into systems, products and services. Places, tools and representations are used to release creative abilities by encouraging to see potential through such devices as narratives, models, storytelling, metaphores, analogies, etc.

Approaches and Methods: from exploration to experimentation to execution

  • Identify drivers that can push innovation in hospitality management

  • Critically analyze innovation strategies (design, tech, marketing or organisation led)

  • Assess systems thinking approaches of innovation cases

  • Apply systems thinking approaches to their own practice and articulate their findings in a professional manner.

  • Re-design innovation strategies in the hospitality industry
  •
Communicate clearly innovation scenarios, contextually relevant.

Program

Module 1 & 2 – Innovation Models and Stakeholders Mapping
Notions of innovation are evolving, requestioned by the implementation of (new or digital and algorithmic) technologies or pushed by change of behaviours enabled by those technologies. “What is at stake?” is the core question the students will work on, fuelled by “Why should we?”.

Module 3 & 4 – Scoping, Scaling, Shaping
A systems-approach to innovation requires to look at what is and de-center in order to identify spaces of possibilities. Change or maintain ? What is essential ? “What if?” will be at the core.

Module 5 & 6 – Designing and Prototyping
Designing is an activity and a process which turns creativity into meaningful outcomes. Design is the new management. “How might we?” create value via innovation a.o

Module 7 & 8 – Scenario Design and Group Presentations
Design needs to be shared and discussed, before any action of implementation or of production. Answers to questions explored in the previous sessions will be articulated and concluded by “Why should we?”.
